I know — what!? Since when are we at agad in the movie review business?
We’re not.
But we recently went to the Minneapolis screening of Chris Taylor’s new documentary, Food Fight. And it was totally awesome so we had to share! It’s an uplifting but educational review of food policy in America — the history of the farm bill, presented simultaneously with the history of the organic and local food movement as it spread its way from California across the United States.
There are interviews with Alice Waters (of Chez Panisse in Berkeley, CA), Michael Pollen, and the founder of the Milwaukee based Growing Power, Inc (check it out!)… and lots of other entertaining tidbtis.
Most importantly - it is informative but not downright depressing - and it reminds us why it’s important to buy local and “vote with our dollar” when it comes to the way that we want food policy to change in the United States.
So - if you have the opportunity, definitely see this movie!!! I’m not sure where/when it is playing - but you can buy the DVD on the website. It’s definitely worth it - one to lend out to friends and family…
